Pre-ámbulo is Miguel Osuna’s articulation of a suggestion, an invitation to explore with him the provocative nature of paint. In what he calls “almost obscene intimacy” Osuna brings the viewer into the seductive interplay between the brush, paint and canvas. This grouping of works, as with all Osuna’s paintings, drills down on an idea, then explodes any preconceived notions of what it can reveal. He has acute awareness of possibility, an overture he shares with the viewer, as he is open, even hopeful of how their own interpretations create more opportunities for recognition of the universal. |

As a former architect, he is a master of line, a boundary he continues to broaden in his art practice. Not to be mistaken for formal simplicity, these works are full of tension, in the application and process, as well as the metaphorical questioning of what follows a preamble. Osuna answers this question by extending the tension through investigations of pigment and integrations of materials that shift the light, brush stroke and feeling of the work so that every interaction is a discovery of detail and perspective.

It is the recognition of how meaning is formed through questioning and consensus between the artist, his materials and the viewer.
